Shravanabelagola - Bahubali On the top of the Vindyagiri hill in Shravanabelagola there is a colossal white statue of Gommateshvara Bahubali. It is 17m high and it is considered to be the world's largest monolithic stone statue. It has been constructed in 981 AD. Bahubali was the son of Rishabhanatha, the first tirthankara (religious teacher) of Jainism. He is said to have meditated motionless for a whole year in standing posture.
