In the past, I had already seen several species of glossy starlings in Africa, but in Gambia, I was able to spot two new species: the Long-tailed glossy starling and the Purple starling. Glossy starlings have stunning, metallic shimmering feathers that can appear blue, green, or purple depending on the light. They live in groups and have the remarkable ability to mimic the sounds of other birds and even humans.
