Belgambia lodge - Common agama (The Gambia)

The male common agama (Agama agama), also known as red-headed rock agama or rainbow agama, displays a striking appearance during the breeding season: a bright blue body paired with a vivid red to orange head. This spectacular coloration is meant to impress females and deter rival males. This photo was taken after the breeding season, when their colors become noticeably duller.
