Abyssinian ground-hornbill After we arrived in the capital city Addis Abeba we drove further south. On the way we spotted the Abyssinian ground-hornbill (Bucorvus abyssinicus). They are large (100 cm and wingspan 185 cm) black birds that live mainly on the ground. The males throat pouch is predominantly red and the one of females is blue. They feed on insects such as grasshoppers, lizards, snakes and small rodents. Stefan Cruysberghs
