Nocturnal animals in our garden - Hedgehog The hedgehog is a nocturnal animal and visits our garden almost daily. It is an insectivore with a length of 20-30cm and its spines can be up to 2.5cm long. They mainly eat snails, earthworms, beetles, caterpillars, earwigs,… but amphibians and small rodents are also sometimes on the menu. They live solitary and hibernate from October-November.
