Castle Hohenwerfen The medieval castle of Hohenwerfen in SalzburgerLand is one of the most beautiful castles in Austria and is fantastically situated on a 113 meter high rock. Archbishop Gebhard of Salzburg had the defenses built in 1077. Today there are guided tours of the chapel, torture chamber, bell tower and royal chamber, where a guide tells about the castle and its former inhabitants.
