South Luangwa - Elephant attack during walking safari South Luangwa park is the birthplace of the widely known walking safari in Africa. We also went on a half-day walking safari with a guide and armed scout. It was very interesting and fascinating, adventurous and even very exciting for a moment.
After an hour we encountered our first elephant. This elephant snorted at us, but then went away. Shortly afterwards a female elephant charged us without a warning. Tuskless elephants are significantly more aggressive than other ones. The ranger had to fire a warning shot to stop her. Something quite extraordinary. Fortunately it was enough to make her turn.
