Farne Islands - Shag (Scotland)

Two species of cormorants also live on the Scottish and English coasts; the common cormorant and the shag. Shags are smaller with a more slender body. Their plumage is black with a green gloss and in the breeding season their peaked forehead sports a tufted crest.
