Ulgii - Golden Eagle Festival - Fur coats (Mongolia)
The berkutchi mostly wear their traditional costumes. Their fur coats are made of marmot, fox or wolf skins caught by their eagles. The more extravagant the coat, the more respected the hunter. In the past these fur coats were essential and the best protection during the hard winters in the Altai mountains. The typical fur hat is called a 'tomach'.
