Bale Mountains - Harenna Forest The third ecosystem in the Bale Mountains national park is the Harenna Forest. It is a moist, subtropical and extremely dense forest, with here and there an open grass plain. This forest in the south of the national park is full of bamboo trees, trees covered with mosses and epiphytes and countless other species of trees and shrubs such as bromeliads and orchids that can only be found in Ethiopia. This forest lies at an altitude of 2300m and so you have to descend more than 1000 meters from the Sanetti Plateau to get there. Stefan Cruysberghs
